Arsenal have arranged for Nicolas Pepe to undergo a medical ahead of a club-record move from Lille.
Details of the £72million transfer were revealed by an Italian journalist on Saturday afternoon as Pepe edges towards a stunning move to the Emirates.
Napoli had agreed a deal with Lille in order to bring the Ivory Coast international to Serie A, but Arsenal hijacked the deal on Saturday morning.
Reports suggested the Gunners would pay the fee in instalments owing to their limited transfer budget and Italian journalist Ciro Venerato has now shed some light on how the north Londoners bloodied the noses of their Italian rivals.
“Nicolas Pepe has said ‘yes’ to Arsenal,” Venerato, who works for Rai Sport, told CalcioNapoli24.
“Medical visits towards the end of next week in London.
